Carribean Poker (Caribbean Stud Poker)

Play Free Video Poker
Play Real Poker

As the name suggests, Carribean Poker originated in the Caribbean islands and via cruise ships and vacationers slowly made its way up to mainland United States of America. With it's popularity remaining high its hard to find a land based casino these days that doesn't carry this card game.

One of its main claims to fame is the fact that Caribbean Poker was the first table game ever to feature a progressive jackpot. Although the jackpot bet is a horribly bad one (unless the jackpot itself if extremely high and there is no maximum payout), it still ads a unique feature that is also fun to play, with the potential for higher than normal payouts. Slots and video poker players may find this a fun way to transition to table games, as the complexity level is not high, and you learn a lot (including the basics of every poker game known to man).

Finding online carribean poker is not always an easy task. Although many casinos have incorporated the game, it is usually not advertised as heavily as blackjack, roulette or the other classics simply because of the size of the audience. Below we've listed links to a few online casinos that offer Caribbean poker and also progressive jackpot Carribbean stud poker: Grand Online Casino | 24kt Gold Online Casino

In playing Carribean Poker at the casinos detailed above, the procedure is as follows:
You compete against the dealer for the best 5-card poker hand. By placing an initial wager, called an "ante", you begin playing. After clicking on DEAL, you are dealt a five-card hand face-up; the dealer is also dealt five cards of which one is exposed. You now choose whether to Surrender ("fold"), losing the ante, or to Bet ("call") an additional amount equal to twice the ante. The dealer then reveals his remaining four cards. When the dealer's hand does not include an Ace and King or better, you are paid even money on the ante and nothing on the bet (a "push"). When the dealer's hand includes an Ace and King or better, it qualifies for play against you. When the dealer's qualifying hand is better than your hand, the house collects your ante and your bet. When your hand is better than the dealer’s qualifying hand, you are paid even money on the ante and an amount on the bet according to the your hand. Check it out and hope you have fun.
